I have many fond memories and funny stories about Barry over the 40+ years that I knew him. For example: I'm not sure what year it was, but I had won the US Open, 83-89. At the end of each US Open, Barry was always there to announce and congratulate the winner. But this time he was nowhere to be found. I started looking for him high and low but I couldn't find him. Then, sure enough there he was...coming out of the bathroom of his office with a hot woman and a BIG smile on his face! I guess he got a little carried away! Good for him.
It's a shame we all have to go. As the winner of the first US Open, I say Thanks for the memories! I am sure Barry is already up in heaven hosting an event with the likes of Mosconi, Crane, the Miz and all the other champions that have passed on before us. I am sure someone will continue his legacy of this great event!
Rest in Peace, old Friend!
